General Legal Retainers
CEMJ Law offers general retainers for legal advice and troubleshooting on a variety of practice areas, so that people can know that they have someone to call and ask legal questions, when they need it. Everyone should have a lawyer, even if they can't answer your specific question at the moment, they can get an answer or refer you to the right place.
Criminal Defense
CEMJ Law handles primarily criminal defense law with trial experience in the Provincial and Supreme Court of British Columbia, and appeal experience in Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.
Low-Conflict Family Matters
CEMJ Law handles low-conflict family matters including simple divorces, separation agreements, and adoptions. This includes summary legal advice, and unbundled legal services in more contentious matters.
Unbundled Legal Services
CEMJ Law offers cost-effective unbundled legal services to assist self-represented persons prepare for hearings and trials in a large range of other practice areas.

Meet the team
Legal Services are provided by Cameron and supported by his spouse, Zelda.
Cameron Edward Johnson (Matthee-Johnson)
Principal Counsel
Cameron is a general practice barrister, with particular focus on criminal defence, low-conflict family matters, and provides summary legal advice or unbundled services in a number of practice areas.
Zelda Matthee (Matthee-Johnson)
Office Manager
Zelda is Cameron's much better half, and provides the firm with administrative support, when not busy with her other work: as an x-ray tech, and with an animal rescue society (Better Beginnings Kitten Rescue)
Charlie
Managing Director (Emeritus)
Charlie is the head of the household and the office and has been for 17+ years. On 17-APR-2026, Charlie's appointment across the rainbow bridge was kept, and she'll be forever missed, but her plushie retaines all her previous authority.
Yoda
Ginger Outreach Coordinator
Yoda is the chief travel inspector of all baggage, and responsible for handling all outreach to fellow ginger cats (and possibly ginger humans as well).
Rhea
Social Director
Rhea is our FIP survivor, and is common attendee of the Kamloops Farmer’s Market, she has no fear (and limited hearing - which probably helps).
